Overview & Specifications
What Are Apparel Boxes?
Apparel boxes are retail folding cartons for soft goods that fit a paperboard box: a tie, a folded scarf, a set of socks, underwear or a small accessory set. The carton presents the item on a shelf or as a gift; it is not a shipping box.
They are part of the Tuck Boxes range and Packaging Dock's Apparel & Fashion Packaging.
What it has to do
What Apparel and Accessories Need from a Box
Soft goods need a carton sized to their folded or rolled shape, a depth that neither crushes nor lets them shift, panels for size and care, an interior that keeps the fold neat, and a way to show fabric and color. Each need below is matched to the option that meets it.
01
Size
Size to the Folded or Rolled Item
A tie is long and narrow, a scarf is soft and bulky, socks come in sets. The carton is sized to the item as it will be packed, not its worn size.02
Depth
Depth That Neither Crushes Nor Floats
Too shallow and the fabric creases; too deep and it shifts. Depth is set from one-piece, multi-piece or set configurations.03
Panels
Panels for Size, Care and SKU
Front, back and side panels carry size, SKU, care information, barcodes and brand graphics in one coordinated carton.04
An
An Interior That Keeps the Fold Neat
Tissue, paper bands, inserts or dividers keep the fold in place and separate pieces in a set. They are specified separately; none is built into the carton.05
A
A Way to Show Fabric and Color
A die-cut window shows the pattern or color without opening the box. See Window Packaging Boxes.

How Do You Size an Apparel Box?
Fold or roll the item exactly as it will be packed, with tissue or a band, and measure length, width and height. Sets are measured as the full arrangement. Final allowances are set on the approved dieline for the selected construction.
| Item | What to Record |
|---|---|
| Tie | Folded or rolled length, width and thickness |
| Scarf | Folded size and loft when lightly pressed |
| Socks or underwear | Folded stack size for the set count |
| Accessory set | Layout and size of each piece |
Pack the Real Item
Pack the folded item with its tissue or band and close the carton. Check that the fold stays neat and nothing crushes.
What to Check Before Bulk Production
Review a packed sample with the real item and final artwork. Record the approved size, depth and interior on the signed-off sample.
| If the sample shows | Review before approval |
|---|---|
| Fabric creases when closed | Increase depth |
| Item slides inside | Add a band, insert or reduce depth |
| Size and care copy crowded | Move secondary copy to a side panel |
Seven days covers standard production from approved proof once the specification is confirmed; delivery timing is confirmed separately.
