Overview & Specifications
What Are Custom Shoe Boxes?
Custom shoe boxes are retail cartons for footwear: one box per pair, printed with the brand and labeled on the end panel with size and style so stacked boxes can be read on a stockroom shelf.
Custom shoe boxes sit in the Tuck Boxes range and under Apparel & Fashion Packaging.
What it has to do
What a Pair of Shoes Needs from Its Box
A pair needs a box sized to the pair with tissue, board strong enough for the footwear and for stacking, an end panel that identifies size and style, a hold that keeps the pair in place and branding that survives handling. Each need below is matched to the option that meets it.
01
A
A Box Sized to the Pair
Shoes sit heel to toe in most boxes. Length comes from the longest size in the run, width from both shoes side by side, height from the tallest shoe with tissue.02
Board
Board for the Footwear and the Stack
Shoe boxes are stacked in stockrooms. Select board around pair weight, box dimensions and expected stacking; confirm on packed samples.03
An
An End Panel for Size and Style
Stockrooms read shoe boxes from the end. The end panel is planned for a size and style label or printed copy.04
A
A Hold for the Pair
Tissue, a paperboard insert or molded pulp keeps the pair from shifting and holds shape.05
Branding
Branding That Survives Handling
Shoe boxes are opened in store and often kept. Print and finishes are chosen for the board.
Paperboard vs Corrugated Shoe Boxes
Shoe boxes are made in paperboard or in E/F-flute or B-flute corrugated. Select board around pair weight, box dimensions and expected stacking, then confirm it on packed samples. The table compares the two board families.
| Attribute | Paperboard | Corrugated (E/F-flute or B-flute) |
|---|---|---|
| Board | 20–24 pt or 26–28 pt | Fluted board with liners |
| Wall thickness (reference) | About 0.5–0.7 mm | About 0.8–1.6 mm (E/F) or about 3 mm (B) |
| Print surface | Smooth, direct print | Printed liner |
| How it is chosen | Pair weight, box size and stacking, confirmed on samples | Pair weight, box size and stacking, confirmed on samples |

What Size Shoe Box Do I Need?
Measure the smallest and largest pairs that will share the box, placed heel to toe with tissue, and size the inside so both fit acceptably. Final allowances are set on the approved dieline for the selected construction.
| Measurement | What to Record |
|---|---|
| Length | Longest shoe in the size run |
| Width | Both shoes side by side, heel to toe |
| Height | Tallest shoe, including tongue and collar |
| Weight | Pair weight, for board choice |
Stack the Packed Samples
Pack the smallest and largest pairs, close the boxes and stack several filled samples. Check the lid stays flat and the bottom box holds its shape.
What to Check Before Bulk Production
Review packed and stacked samples with the smallest and largest pairs and final artwork. Record the approved size, board and label area on the signed-off sample.
| If the sample shows | Review before approval |
|---|---|
| Bottom box bows under the stack | Review board grade against pair weight and stacking |
| Pair shifts inside | Add tissue or an insert |
| End label hard to read | Enlarge the label area |
Seven days covers standard production from approved proof once the specification is confirmed; delivery timing is confirmed separately.
