Overview & Specifications
What Are Custom Shipping Mailer Boxes?
Custom shipping mailer boxes are transit-focused packages for products moving through parcel, fulfillment and general distribution. The box, product supports, cushioning and sealing form one packed system, and product fragility, size, weight and handling conditions guide the specification. Branding can be added, but shipping fit leads.
They are part of the Mailer Boxes range and Packaging Dock's Shipping & Logistics Packaging.
How the Packed System Is Planned
Work outward from the product. Identify the surfaces that need support, the components that need separation and the space required for cushioning. Develop the box around that arrangement, then review the closed package and sealing method against the intended route; the assembled package is the unit that is assessed.

What it has to do
What a Shipment Needs from Its Mailer
A shipping mailer has to carry the whole packed load, control product movement, close for the intended route, leave room for labels and fit many kinds of goods.
01
Carry
Carry the Whole Packed Load
Packed weight, product dimensions, stacking, handling and distribution conditions guide the board and flute. Packaging decisions change when multiple units, a retail carton or substantial cushioning are added.02
Control
Control Product Movement
Custom inserts, dividers and cushioning can organize the contents and manage movement. The final box dimensions account for each protective component as part of the complete pack.03
Close
Close for the Intended Route
The tuck closure forms the box opening. Tape, adhesive, labels or other supplemental closure measures can be added according to product value, carrier expectations and the shipping environment.04
Leave
Leave Useful Label Space
Plan an exterior area for shipping labels and approved identification, readable after closure and clear of fold areas.05
Fit
Fit Many Kinds of Goods
The format can be adapted for boxed goods, accessories, parts and packaged retail products without tying the page to a single industry.
The Mailer Construction Used Here
Shipping mailers on this page are Roll End Tuck Top Boxes with rolled double walls and an attached tuck-top lid. Review the loaded weight, support, closing method and shipping-label area together for the intended route.
Where a front lock, lift-off lid or locked three-flap opening suits the shipment better, order the separate Roll End Tuck Front, Roll End Boxes with Lid or Roll End 3 Flap Lock.
Shipping Mailer vs Ecommerce Mailer vs Corrugated Mailer
All three are Roll End Tuck Top mailers. Choose Shipping Mailer when packed load, cushioning and sealing lead, Ecommerce when packing workflow and branded unboxing lead, and Corrugated when the main question is board grade and flute.
| Page | Main decision | Choose When |
|---|---|---|
| Custom Shipping Mailer Boxes | Complete packed system and distribution | Protection and shipping preparation |
| Custom Ecommerce Mailer Boxes | Packing workflow and customer reveal | Branded DTC orders |
| Corrugated Mailers | Board grade, flute and liner | Material choice |
| Roll End Tuck Top Boxes | Folds and tuck closure | The underlying structure |

What Size Shipping Mailer Do I Need?
Measure the product together with its supports and cushioning. Record inside length, width and depth for fit and the closed outside dimensions for shipping; a thinner box only helps when the protective arrangement still works, so the sample and dieline set the final clearance.
| Measurement | Include |
|---|---|
| Product or inner pack | Full dimensions, closures and intended orientation |
| Interior arrangement | Inserts, partitions, cushioning and presentation layers |
| Complete shipment | Packed weight and units per box |
| Final box | Inside fit and closed outside dimensions |
Confirm the finished fit on the approved dieline and a loaded sample where required. Allowances by board are on the Roll End Tuck Top sizing guide.
Review the Complete Shipment
Load the final products, supports and literature; weigh and measure the closed package. Review the seal and label area, then agree the route-specific assessment before bulk production.
What to Check Before Bulk Production
Trial the mailer with the full packed load and planned sealing. Record the approved board, cushioning and sealing method on the signed-off sample.
| If the trial shows | Review before approval |
|---|---|
| Seal or label area is crowded | Review the closed parcel and the intended label format |
| Contents move inside the closed box | Revise support and cushioning around the actual shipment |
| Route or packed weight changes | Reassess the complete specification and required validation |
The stated seven days covers standard production from approved proof once the specification is confirmed. Confirm dispatch and delivery timing for the destination separately.
