Overview & Specifications
What Are Waterproof Stickers?
Waterproof stickers are labels where the face stock, the print and the adhesive are each specified for water. Performance depends on the face stock, print protection, adhesive and stated exposure, confirmed on an applied sample. Performance is described for a stated exposure, such as condensation, splash, outdoor use or immersion.
Waterproof Stickers sit in the Labels & Stickers range.
What it has to do
What Makes a Sticker Waterproof?
A sticker is waterproof only when its material, print and adhesive all suit the exposure. Each need below covers one of those parts and the conditions they are tested against.
01
Water-Resistant
A Water-Resistant Material
Vinyl or water-resistant film replaces paper, which absorbs water.02
Protected
Protected Print
Lamination, coating or a compatible ink system keeps the print from rubbing or running.03
Adhesive
An Adhesive for the Conditions
The adhesive is chosen for the surface, temperature and how long it stays wet.04
Stated
A Stated Exposure
Performance is described for defined conditions: condensation, splash, outdoor or immersion. There is no open-ended rating.
Which Exposure Does Your Sticker Face?
Exposure sets the material, print protection and adhesive. The table matches common conditions to a starting specification to confirm by testing.
| Exposure | Material | Print Protection | Adhesive |
|---|---|---|---|
| Condensation (fridge, cold drinks) | Film | Lamination | Chosen for cold, damp surfaces |
| Splash (bathroom, kitchen) | Vinyl or film | Lamination | Permanent, surface-matched |
| Outdoor | Vinyl | Lamination or UV-resistant coating | Outdoor-rated |
| Immersion (ice bucket) | Film | Lamination | Tested for immersion |

Test a Sample in the Real Conditions
Apply samples to the real surface and expose them as in use, for the expected time. Check print, edges and adhesion.
What to Check Before Bulk Production
Review samples tested in the stated exposure. Record the approved material, protection, adhesive and exposure on the signed-off specification. Bulk production starts after that sign-off.
| If the sample shows | Review before approval |
|---|---|
| Edges lift when wet | Review adhesive for the surface and exposure |
| Print rubs off | Review print protection |
| Label clouds | Review film and lamination |
| Fails outdoors | Review material and coating for UV |
Seven days covers standard production from approved proof once the specification is confirmed; delivery timing is confirmed separately.
