Overview & Specifications
What Are Coffee Pillow Boxes?
Coffee pillow boxes are outer cartons: a curved pillow box around a coffee pack that is already sealed. They carry the brand, roast and brewing copy and make samples and gifts look finished. They do not hold loose coffee and are not a barrier.
Coffee Pillow Boxes sit in the Pillow Boxes range and under Tea & Coffee Packaging.
What it has to do
What a Sealed Coffee Pack Needs from a Pillow Box
A coffee pillow box has to fit the sealed pack, leave freshness to the inner pack, carry roast and brewing copy and stay light. Each need below is matched to the option that meets it.
01
Fit
A Fit Around the Sealed Pack
The box is sized to the sealed sample or single-serve pack, so it closes without squeezing the seal.02
Freshness
Freshness Handled by the Inner Pack
The pillow box is not a barrier. Freshness depends on the inner pack's material, seal and suitability for the required shelf life. Sealed packs include Custom Coffee Bags and sample pouches.03
Room
Room for Roast and Brewing Copy
Panels carry origin, roast level and brewing notes. The brand supplies and approves the copy.04
Light
A Light Load
Pillow boxes suit samples and small gift portions, not bulk coffee.
Coffee Pillow Box vs Coffee Bag
A coffee bag is the primary pack in contact with the coffee; a coffee pillow box is the printed outer carton around a sealed pack. The table compares the two.
| Attribute | Coffee Pillow Box | Custom Coffee Bag |
|---|---|---|
| Role | Outer carton | Primary pack |
| Holds | A sealed coffee pack | Coffee beans or ground coffee |
| Freshness | None by itself | Depends on the film, seal and shelf-life spec |
| Best for | Samples, gift portions | Retail bags |

What Size Coffee Pillow Box Do I Need?
Measure the sealed pack when filled: length, width and thickness. Allow clearance at the center of the curve before the dieline is approved.
| Measurement | What to Record |
|---|---|
| Sealed pack | Length, width and filled thickness |
| Count | Packs per box |
| Weight | Packed weight |
| Copy | Roast, origin and brewing panels |
Check the Sealed Pack on a Sample
Pack a sample with the sealed pack and close both ends. Check that the seal is not pressed and the copy is readable.
What to Check Before Bulk Production
Review a sample packed with the sealed coffee pack and printed with the final artwork. Record the approved size and pack count on the signed-off sample.
| If the sample shows | Review before approval |
|---|---|
| Seal pressed by the curve | Review size and board on a new sample |
| Pack slides inside | Add a card or reduce the size |
| Brewing copy crowded | Move copy to the second panel |
| Ends will not stay closed | Review the dieline and board on a sample |
Seven days covers standard production from approved proof once the specification is confirmed; delivery timing is confirmed separately.
