Overview & Specifications
What Are Custom Tea Boxes?
Custom tea boxes are cartons for tea sold by count: tea bags, wrapped sachets, or loose leaf in an inner bag. The carton presents the blend; any aroma or moisture barrier comes from the inner bag or wrap, not the paperboard.
Custom Tea Boxes sit in the Tuck Boxes range and under Tea & Coffee Packaging.
What it has to do
What Tea Needs from Its Box
Tea needs a carton sized to the bag count, an inner layer where the tea needs a barrier, panels for blend and brewing copy, a layout for gift sets and surfaces suited to food contact. Each need below is matched to the option that meets it.
01
A
A Carton Sized to the Count
Tea bags and sachets stack in rows. The carton is sized to the count as packed, wrapped or unwrapped.02
An
An Inner Layer Where Needed
Paperboard alone is not an aroma or moisture barrier. Loose leaf usually sits in an inner bag; see Tea Bag Pouches.03
Panels
Panels for Blend and Brewing
Blend name, origin, brewing time and ingredients need panel space. The brand supplies the copy.04
A
A Layout for Gift Sets
Gift boxes hold several teas in an insert, often with a window over the selection.05
Surfaces
Surfaces for Unwrapped Tea Bags
Unwrapped tea bags touch the board, so food-contact board is available on request. The board, coating, any insert and any window film are each confirmed for dry tea, contact time and storage temperature.
Tea Boxes vs Tea Gift Boxes
Choose a retail tea box for one blend by count and a tea gift box for several teas arranged in an insert. The table compares the two.
| Attribute | Retail Tea Box | Tea Gift Box |
|---|---|---|
| Contents | One blend by count | Several teas or sachets |
| Interior | Stack or inner bag | Insert with sections |
| Outside panels | Inside and out | |
| Typical sale | Shelf retail | Gifts, holidays, corporate |

What Size Tea Box Do I Need?
Stack the bags or sachets for the count, or measure the filled inner bag, and size the carton to that. Final allowances are set on the approved dieline.
| Measurement | What to Record |
|---|---|
| Contents | Bag or sachet count |
| Unit | Size of each wrapped sachet or bag |
| Inner bag | Filled size, for loose leaf |
| Gift layout | Sections and count per section |
Pack the Full Count
Pack the full count or the filled inner bag, close the carton and check that it closes flat and the panels read clearly.
What to Check Before Bulk Production
Review a sample packed with the tea and printed with the final artwork. Record the approved count, inner layer and insert on the signed-off sample.
| If the sample shows | Review before approval |
|---|---|
| Carton bulges | Re-measure the stacked count |
| Sachets slide in gift sections | Tighten the insert |
| Unwrapped bags touch print | Confirm interior surfaces for contact |
Seven days covers standard production from approved proof once the specification is confirmed; delivery timing is confirmed separately.
