Overview & Specifications
What Are Custom Snack Boxes?
Custom snack boxes are shelf cartons for snack foods: a printed box holding a set count of wrapped bars or snack packs, or a net weight of loose snacks. The carton presents the product on the shelf and carries its label copy.
Custom Snack Boxes sit in the Tuck Boxes range and under Food & Beverage Packaging.
What it has to do
What Snacks Need from Their Box
Snacks need a carton sized to the count, a decision on wrapped versus loose, panels for nutrition copy, a coating for oily foods and surfaces suited to food contact. Each need below is matched to the option that meets it.
01
A
A Carton Sized to the Count
Bars and snack packs sell in counts such as 5, 6 or 12. The carton is sized to the packs as stacked.02
Wrapped
Wrapped or Loose
Wrapped bars and packs only touch their wrapper. Loose snacks touch the board, so contact surfaces are specified for them.03
Panels
Panels for Nutrition Copy
Nutrition facts, ingredients and allergen statements need panel space. The brand supplies and approves the copy.04
A
A Coating for Oily Foods
Nuts, chips and baked snacks can leave oil on board. A grease-resistant coating is available.05
Surfaces
Surfaces for Loose Snacks
Food-contact board is available on request for loose snacks. Confirm all food-contact surfaces, including coatings, inserts and any film, for the food type, contact time and temperature. For loose snacks, confirm whether an inner liner or pouch is needed for containment and the required shelf life.
Snack Boxes vs Snack Bags
Choose a snack box for a shelf carton with a wide print panel and a bag for a flexible, resealable pouch. The table compares the two.
| Attribute | Snack Box | Snack Bag (Mylar Bags) |
|---|---|---|
| Format | Paperboard carton | Flexible pouch |
| Typical contents | Wrapped bars, snack packs, multi-packs | Loose snacks, single servings |
| Shelf presence | Stands with a wide front | Stands or hangs |
| Reclose | Tuck end | Zipper where specified |

What Size Snack Box Do I Need?
Stack the wrapped bars or packs as they will sit, or fill a mock-up to the net weight, and measure. Final allowances are set on the approved dieline.
| Measurement | What to Record |
|---|---|
| Contents | Count or net weight |
| Pack | Size of each wrapped bar or pack |
| Stack | Rows and layers |
| Copy | Panels for nutrition and allergens |
Fill a Sample to the Count
Fill a sample with the count you sell, close it and check that the packs sit flat and the nutrition panel is readable.
What to Check Before Bulk Production
Review a sample filled with the snacks and printed with the final artwork. Record the approved count, size and contact surfaces on the signed-off sample.
| If the sample shows | Review before approval |
|---|---|
| Packs shift or tilt | Tighten the size to the stack |
| Oil marks the board | Confirm grease-resistant coating |
| Nutrition panel crowded | Move copy to a side panel |
Seven days covers standard production from approved proof once the specification is confirmed; delivery timing is confirmed separately.
