Overview & Specifications
What Are Bakery Paper Bags?
Bakery paper bags are the paper version of bakery bags: flat bags for cookies and pastries, and gusseted bags for loaves and larger orders. Printed branding sits on the paper itself.
Bakery Paper Bags sit in the Paper Bags range and under Bakery Packaging.
What it has to do
What Baked Goods Need from a Paper Bag
Baked goods need a bag shaped to the item, a check on moisture and grease, surfaces suited to direct contact and a closure that fits the counter. Each need below is matched to the option that meets it.
01
Shape
A Shape for the Item
Flat bags suit cookies and pastries; gusseted bags suit loaves and multi-item orders. See Flat Paper Bags.02
Moisture
Moisture and Grease
Moisture release and grease resistance depend on the material, coating and closure, checked with the actual baked goods.03
Surfaces
Surfaces Suited to Contact
Unwrapped baked goods touch the paper. Food-contact paper is available on request, and the paper, coating, inks and any window film are confirmed for the bake, how long it stays in the bag and how warm it goes in.04
Closure
A Closure for the Counter
Open top, fold-over, sticker seal or tin tie, chosen for speed at the counter.
Paper Bakery Bags vs Plastic Bakery Bags
Choose paper for printed counter branding on a paper bag, and plastic film where a film bag is specified elsewhere. Moisture and grease performance is checked with the actual baked goods. The table compares the two.
| Attribute | Paper Bakery Bag | Plastic Bakery Bag |
|---|---|---|
| Material | Paper | Film |
| Moisture release / grease | Depends on material, coating and closure | Depends on material and closure |

Fill a Sample at the Counter
Fill a sample with warm and cooled bakes and close it. Check for grease marks and that the window shows the bake.
What to Check Before Bulk Production
Review a sample filled with your baked goods and printed with the final artwork. Record the approved paper, bag size and contact surfaces for the bakery on the signed-off sample.
| If the sample shows | Review before approval |
|---|---|
| Grease marks the bag | Confirm grease-resistant paper |
| Loaf too tight | Review construction and fit, then check another packed sample |
| Window shows paper, not bake | Move the window |
| Sticker will not hold | Review construction and fit, then check another packed sample |
Seven days covers standard production from approved proof once the specification is confirmed; delivery timing is confirmed separately.
