What it has to do
What Pastries Need from Their Box
Pastries need a shallow box, separation for delicate pieces, a coating for butter, clearance for glazes and fruit, and board suited to direct contact. Each need below is matched to the option that meets it.
01
A
A Shallow Box
Most pastries are low. Height provides clearance; fit and optional inserts control movement. A shallow box also gives a wide lid for print.02
Separation
Separation for Delicate Pieces
Flaky layers crush and glazes smear when pieces touch. A paperboard insert gives each pastry its own place.03
A
A Coating for Butter
Laminated doughs release butter. A grease-resistant coating is available and chosen with the board.04
Clearance
Clearance for Glazes and Fruit
Fruit tarts and glazed pastries need a little headroom. Height is set from the tallest piece.05
Food-Contact
Food-Contact Board for Loose Pastries
Loose pastries touch the board and insert. Food-contact board for both is available on request; note direct contact in the quote. Confirm all food-contact surfaces, including coatings, inserts and any film, for the food type, contact time and temperature.
Pastry Boxes vs Donut Boxes
Choose a pastry box for mixed shapes with inserts and a donut box for round items in rows. The table compares the two.
| Attribute | Pastry Box | Donut Box |
|---|---|---|
| Contents | Croissants, Danish, tarts, mixed pastries | Donuts in a fixed count |
| Interior | Insert for mixed shapes | Row layout |
| Height | Low | Low, set by toppings |
| Coating | Grease-resistant available | Grease-resistant available |
