Overview & Specifications
What Are FSC Corrugated Mailer Boxes?
FSC corrugated mailer boxes are corrugated mailers whose board is sourced from an FSC-certified supply, with chain-of-custody documentation for the material supplied to the order. FSC certification addresses where the fiber comes from; it does not by itself make the box recyclable or compostable. Packaging Dock builds them on the Roll End Tuck Top mailer.
They are part of the Mailer Boxes range and Packaging Dock's Sustainable Packaging.

Packaging Dock states the FSC sourcing claim only; it makes no general eco-friendly or sustainable claim without separate evidence.
What it has to do
What an FSC Mailer Has to Do
An FSC mailer has to tie the claim to the actual material, still work as a shipping mailer, keep print and finishes in line with the sourcing message, provide documents procurement needs and keep on-pack wording accurate. Each need below is matched to how the mailer meets it.
01
Tie
Tie the Claim to the Actual Material
FSC claims relate to the actual sourced material and applicable chain-of-custody documentation. Certification details are confirmed during procurement so published wording reflects the supplied construction.02
Still
Still Work as a Shipping Mailer
Board grade, flute, dimensions, packed weight and distribution conditions determine the functional specification. Inserts, dividers and cushioning are added when contents need movement control or separation.03
Keep
Keep Print and Finishes in Line
Printing and finishes are selected in line with the project's sourcing goals and visual requirements; heavy laminations or metallic layers can conflict with an end-of-life message.04
Provide
Provide What Procurement Needs
Buyers with certified-fiber requirements can request certification records early for procurement, claims review or retailer approval.05
Keep
Keep On-Pack Wording Accurate
Recyclability, compostability, carbon impact and other environmental attributes need their own evidence beyond FSC. In the US, unqualified "recyclable" claims follow the FTC Green Guides (16 CFR 260.12), and California's SB 343 covers recycling symbols on packaging made on or after October 4, 2026. A July 2026 federal preliminary injunction blocks enforcement of parts of the law while the case continues, so confirm its current status before printing a recycling symbol.
The Mailer Construction Used Here
FSC mailers are Roll End Tuck Top Boxes cut from certified corrugated board, with rolled walls and a tuck-top lid. Certified board can also be requested on the separate Roll End Tuck Front, Roll End Boxes with Lid and Roll End 3 Flap Lock products, subject to the same documentation.
FSC Corrugated vs Standard Corrugated Mailers
Both use the same mailer build and flute choices. The difference is sourcing: FSC mailers use board from a certified chain of custody, with documentation for the order, while standard corrugated mailers are specified on board, flute and liner without a sourcing claim.
| Attribute | FSC Corrugated Mailer | Corrugated Mailers |
|---|---|---|
| Board | FSC-certified corrugated where specified | Corrugated, grade and flute by project |
| Sourcing claim | FSC Mix, FSC Recycled or other applicable claim, confirmed per order | None |
| Documentation | Chain-of-custody details for the supplied material | Not required |
| On-pack FSC label | Only with the approved license and claim | Not applicable |
| Main decision | Certified fiber sourcing | Board, flute and liner |

What Size FSC Mailer Do I Need?
Size the FSC mailer exactly as any corrugated mailer: from the product and insert outward, with the chosen flute adding to the outside. The certified board changes the sourcing, not the sizing method, so record the inside fit and closed outside size on the same basis.
| Measurement | Include |
|---|---|
| Product or inner pack | Full dimensions, closures and intended orientation |
| Interior arrangement | Inserts, partitions, cushioning and presentation layers |
| Complete shipment | Packed weight and units per box |
| Final box | Inside fit and closed outside dimensions |
Confirm the finished fit on the approved dieline and a loaded sample. Flute-by-flute allowances are listed in the Roll End Tuck Top sizing guide.
Check the Certified Board as a Finished Box
Assemble the certified board, load the product and close it. Check fit, print on the actual liner and that the documentation matches the board supplied.
What to Check Before Bulk Production
Trial the mailer in the certified board that will be supplied. Record the approved board, claim type and documentation reference on the signed-off sample.
| If the trial shows | Review before approval |
|---|---|
| Print differs on the certified liner | Review artwork on the actual liner |
| Documentation does not match the claim | Correct the claim type before artwork approval |
| Finishes conflict with the sourcing message | Reduce laminations or metallic layers |
| The board is substituted after quoting | Review claim eligibility and packed fit together |
Seven days covers standard production from approved proof once the specification and documentation are confirmed; delivery timing is confirmed separately.
