Overview & Specifications
What Are Static Cling Stickers?
Static cling stickers are printed graphics on a soft cling film that holds to a smooth surface through close contact rather than glue. Pressed onto clean glass, the film grips the surface; lifted at a corner, it peels away cleanly. Because there is no adhesive layer, nothing is left behind, and the cling can often be moved or reused.
How Static Cling Stickers Work
The format works through three details.
01
Cling Film
The graphic is printed on a cling film, white or clear, that holds to smooth surfaces through contact.
02
Clean, Smooth Surface
It performs best on clean, smooth surfaces such as compatible glass; dust, texture, curves and contamination reduce contact.
03
Remove and Reposition
With no glue layer, the cling peels away without residue and can often be reapplied to another clean surface.
Anatomy of a Static Cling Sticker
01
Cling Film
White or clear, the material that holds to the surface.
02
Printed Graphic
On the front or reverse, set by viewing direction.
03
Backing Liner
Protects the cling until it is applied.
For clings placed inside a window to be read from outside, the artwork is printed in reverse on clear film; the die line and proof confirm the viewing direction.
Static Cling vs Removable Adhesive Sticker at a Glance
| Feature | Static Cling | Individual Stickers with removable adhesive |
|---|---|---|
| Holds by | Contact, no adhesive | Removable adhesive |
| Best surfaces | Smooth, clean glass | A wider range of surfaces |
| Residue on removal | None from adhesive | Low, depends on adhesive and surface |
| Reuse | Often repositionable | Usually single use |

When Are Static Cling Stickers the Right Choice?
Static cling stickers suit temporary graphics on glass and smooth surfaces: storefront windows, temporary retail promotions, seasonal signage, and vehicle or office glass where appropriate, wherever the message changes and should come off cleanly.

Temporary
Temporary Application
Campaigns, seasonal displays and changeable information go up and come down without scraping.02
No
No Adhesive Residue
Removal does not depend on peeling away a glue layer.03
Repositionable
Repositionable Display
A correctly specified cling can often be moved and reapplied to another clean, compatible surface.04

When Another Format May Fit Better
For metal surfaces such as refrigerators or fixtures, choose Magnetic Stickers. For permanent labels on packaging, see the Sticker Roll or Individual Stickers.

What Size Static Cling Do You Need?
Quote by width × height and shape, plus where it goes and which side it is read from. Size usually follows the glass area, such as a door panel or window section, leaving a margin from frames and edges.
There is no fixed size list: any practical size is built to order.
Placement Reference
The figures below are planning references, not fixed manufacturing rules; final values depend on the glass, film and conditions.
| Item | Typical Reference |
|---|---|
| Cling film thickness | Commonly about 7–8 mil (0.18–0.2 mm) vinyl cling |
| Margin from window frame | About 1/2 in (12 mm) so the edge lies flat |
| Inside-glass, read from outside | Reverse print on clear film |
| Outside-glass or same-side reading | Front print on white or clear film |
Important: These are reference figures. Cling performance depends on the surface, temperature, cleanliness and exposure, so placement is confirmed before production.
If you are unsure, share the glass size, which side it goes on and how long it will be up with the quote request, and the cling is specified around it.
Will They Stick to Textured Walls?
Usually not reliably. Smooth, clean surfaces such as glass are the intended use; textured, dusty or porous surfaces reduce contact.
