Overview & Specifications

What Are Custom Vacuum Seal Bags?

Custom vacuum seal bags are flexible barrier pouches made for a vacuum-packaging process that removes much of the air around a suitable product before the final seal. The pouch then conforms more closely to the contents, while the film structure provides the required barrier and mechanical strength.

Unlike generic vacuum sealer rolls, these are Mylar-style pouches specified for the customer's confirmed equipment and printed with the brand. They are part of the Mylar Bags range.

How Vacuum Sealing Works in a Mylar Pouch

The product is placed in the pouch, the machine draws out much of the air, and the seal bar closes the opening while the vacuum holds. The flexible film then pulls in around the product. How well this works depends on the machine, the sealant layer, the seal area and the film, not on the bag alone.

01

Air removal

the vacuum cycle removes much of the headspace air from the pouch.

02

Sealing

the seal bar fuses the sealant layer across the opening before air returns.

03

Conforming

the film draws closer to suitable contents, reducing package bulk and internal movement.

04

Barrier

after sealing, moisture, oxygen and aroma protection come from the complete laminate.

What it has to do

What Vacuum-Packed Products Need from Their Packaging

A vacuum pouch has to work with the machine, hold a reliable seal under vacuum, resist puncture from the product and provide a barrier after sealing. Each need below is matched to how custom vacuum seal bags meet it.

  • 01

    Match

    Match the Vacuum Machine

Chamber machines and external-suction sealers handle bags differently. Smooth-wall pouches can be specified for compatible chamber vacuum equipment by matching the sealant layer, film thickness, dimensions and seal area to the machine and process.
  • 02

    Seal

    Seal Reliably Under Vacuum

Enough clean film is reserved at the opening for the vacuum and sealing process, and the sealant layer is matched to the seal-bar temperature and time.
  • 03

    Resist

    Resist Puncture

Film thickness and mechanical strength are adjusted around product edges, weight, handling and distribution. Sharp or rigid contents may need more puncture resistance than smooth, lightweight products.
  • 04

    Keep

    Keep a Barrier After Sealing

Removing much of the headspace air can help limit oxygen exposure around suitable products. The actual protection still depends on the complete laminate, residual oxygen, seal quality and storage conditions.
  • 05

    Respect

    Respect Food-Safety Limits

Vacuum packaging alone does not make a food shelf-stable or establish a shelf life. Product formulation, food-safety controls, temperature, handling and storage still need to be appropriate for the food.
Customization

Customize Your Custom Vacuum Seal Bags

The final pouch is developed from the vacuum process outward, beginning with the product, equipment and seal requirements before appearance and print options are finalized.

01

Pouch Size and Seal Area

Dimensions are developed around the product size, fill amount, required opening and seal-bar area. Enough clean film is reserved for the vacuum and sealing process.

02

Film Thickness and Puncture Needs

Choose thinner film for smooth, light products and a thicker or tougher structure for sharp, rigid, heavy or abrasive contents, adjusted for handling and distribution.

03

Barrier Structure

Choose clear film when the product should be seen through the pack, metallized film for an opaque moisture and oxygen barrier, and an interior aluminum foil layer when light and oxygen protection matter most. Barrier is set by the laminate, not the vacuum level.

04

Equipment and Process Fit

Share whether the package will be sealed on a chamber machine or another system, along with the machine model and seal-bar information. The bag is then specified around the actual equipment and vacuum cycle.

05

Printing and Presentation

Custom graphics can be added where compatible with the selected laminate and pouch format. Print layout is coordinated with seal zones and any areas that will conform tightly around the product after vacuuming.

Ordering

How to Order Custom Vacuum Seal Bags

Ordering custom vacuum seal bags takes five steps: share the product and equipment, confirm the film, size and dieline, approve the artwork proof, move into production, and ship. Orders start at 500 units, with production time confirmed once the film and sealing specification are set.

  1. 01

    Request a Quote

Share the product, its dimensions and weight, any sharp edges, the vacuum machine model and type, seal-bar length, storage conditions and quantity. Packaging Dock typically responds to quote requests within 24 hours.

  2. 02

Confirm the Film, Size and Dieline

Film thickness, barrier, sealant layer and dimensions are developed around the product and machine. Packaging Dock then provides a custom dieline showing printable areas and seal zones.

  3. 03

    Approve the Artwork and Proof

Artwork is prepared on the dieline with free design support available. The proof is reviewed for seal-zone clearance, panel layout and barcode placement before approval.

  4. 04

    Production

Production begins after the proof and the final film and sealing specification are approved, with the timeline confirmed at that point. Rush production is available on request where the construction allows.

  5. 05

    Shipping

Finished vacuum bags ship across the USA and worldwide. Transit method, delivery time and shipping cost depend on the destination, order volume and shipment requirements.

Sample note: A pre-production sample can be arranged when the project requires physical approval before the full production run.

Uses

Who Uses Custom Vacuum Seal Bags?

Custom vacuum seal bags are used by food producers, ingredient suppliers and brands packing dry or chilled products on their own vacuum equipment. Vacuum packaging is best evaluated by product and storage conditions rather than used as a universal preservation method. See Food & Beverage packaging.

  1. 01

    Dry Foods, Grains and Ingredients

Dry grains, ingredients and suitable shelf-stable dry foods can use vacuum packaging where the product, barrier and storage requirements support the process. What matters here: puncture resistance against hard grains and a moisture barrier.

  2. 02

Nuts, Dried Fruit and Dehydrated Products

Nuts, dried fruit and dehydrated goods can use reduced-headspace packaging when the film structure and storage conditions are selected around the product's moisture and oxygen sensitivities. What matters here: oxygen barrier and a compact pack.

  3. 03

    Bulk Portions and Ingredient Storage

Bulk portions and ingredients can use custom dimensions to reduce excess headspace and create a more compact package for storage and handling. What matters here: thicker film for weight and a seal area sized to the machine.

  4. 04

Refrigerated or Frozen Foods Under Validated Controls

Selected refrigerated or frozen foods can use vacuum packaging when food-contact materials, temperature control, process requirements and food-safety controls have been validated for the specific product. What matters here: validated food-safety controls; the bag alone is not a preservation method.

FAQ

Custom Vacuum Seal Bag FAQs

What are vacuum seal Mylar bags?

They are flexible barrier pouches developed for a vacuum process that removes much of the headspace air before sealing. The film structure and sealant are selected around the product and vacuum equipment.

Are vacuum seal Mylar bags the same as vacuum sealer bags?

Vacuum sealer bags is a broad term covering different bag constructions and machine types. This page focuses on custom Mylar-style barrier pouches developed for the customer's confirmed vacuum equipment and process.

What is the difference between chamber and embossed vacuum bags?

Chamber pouches are smooth and are sealed inside a chamber machine. Embossed or channeled bags have a textured side that lets an external-suction sealer draw air out. A bag made for one machine type often does not work in the other.

Do vacuum seal bags remove all oxygen?

No. The process removes much of the headspace air, but it does not create an oxygen-free package. Residual oxygen and oxygen transmission through the package depend on the process, film structure and seals.

Can these bags be used with an external-suction vacuum sealer?

External-suction systems often rely on a textured or channeled air path, while smooth-wall chamber pouches work differently. Compatibility should be confirmed from the actual machine before the bag is specified.

Does vacuum sealing make food shelf-stable?

No. Vacuum packaging alone does not make a food shelf-stable or establish a universal shelf life. Product formulation, food-safety controls, temperature, handling and storage conditions still need to be appropriate for the food.

Can liquids be vacuum packed in these pouches?

Liquid applications require equipment and process validation because product can move toward the seal area during vacuuming. The filling method, vacuum system and film structure need to be reviewed for the specific product.

How do I choose the right vacuum seal bag thickness?

Thickness is selected around product weight, sharp edges, puncture risk, distribution and the sealing equipment. Chamber pouches are commonly around 3 mil; a heavier or more abrasive product may need a thicker or tougher structure.

Can I order custom printed vacuum seal bags?

Yes. Custom dimensions, barrier structures and printing can be developed where compatible with the vacuum process. MOQ and lead time are confirmed after the final film and sealing specification are approved.

What pouch formats can be vacuum sealed?

Stand Up, Flat Bottom and 3 Side Seal pouches can be developed for vacuum sealing, and Back Seal bags where the film and seals support vacuum integrity.
