Overview & Specifications
What Are Candle Shipping Boxes?
Candle shipping boxes are shipping packages configured around candle vessel dimensions, packed weight, void space and fulfillment conditions. Packaging Dock builds them as one-piece Roll End Tuck Top mailers that ship flat and fold up at packing, so a single jar, a boxed candle or a multi-candle set travels in a printed, sized box.
They are part of the Mailer Boxes range and Packaging Dock's Candle Packaging.
What it has to do
What a Candle Needs from a Shipping Box
A candle shipping box has to fit the real vessel, limit movement of heavy glass, carry the right board for the packed weight, hold more than one candle when needed and present the brand on arrival.
01
Fit
Fit the Real Vessel and Lid
Box dimensions can follow the jar or tin diameter, vessel height, lid profile and any retail carton surrounding the candle. Jars marketed at the same size can differ widely in shape, so the box starts from the measured vessel.02
Limit
Limit Movement of Heavy Glass
Fitted inserts, partitions and cushioning can hold candle products in planned positions during handling. The appropriate solution depends on the vessel material, weight, shipment configuration and space available around each item.03
Match
Match the Board to the Packed Weight
Board grade and flute are selected around the loaded jar or tin, supports and route. A retail carton contributes to the packed arrangement; paperboard presentation builds may still require an outer shipping box.04
Pack
Pack More Than One Candle
Dividers or compartmented inserts give each vessel its own position when two or more candles ship together.05
Arrive
Arrive Branded
Exterior and interior printing can create a branded direct-to-consumer experience. Transit performance still depends on the complete packed configuration, so testing is recommended when glass breakage or product damage presents a meaningful risk.
The Mailer Construction Used Here
Candle shipping boxes are built on Roll End Tuck Top Boxes: rolled double walls and an attached lid that tucks shut over the vessel. The attached lid opens above the candle layout while the walls are formed from the same blank. Review the assembled box with the vessel and insert in place.
Other opening formats are sold as separate products: Roll End Tuck Front for a front lock, Roll End Boxes with Lid for a lift-off lid and Roll End 3 Flap Lock for a locked three-flap opening.
Candle Shipping Box vs Rigid Candle Box
A candle shipping box is the outer mailer that travels through the parcel network. A rigid candle box is a set-up presentation box that sits on a shelf or inside the mailer. Many gift candles use both: the rigid box for presentation, the mailer for delivery.
| Attribute | Candle Shipping Box | Rigid Candle Box |
|---|---|---|
| Job | Outer shipping mailer | Retail or gift presentation |
| Construction | Roll End Tuck Top, paperboard or corrugated | Rigid presentation construction specified on its own page |
| Arrives | Flat, folded at packing | Set up |
| Goes through the parcel network | Yes | Normally inside an outer mailer |

What Size Candle Shipping Box Do I Need?
Size the mailer from the measured vessel with its lid, or from the retail carton if the candle ships boxed, then add the insert and board. Measure the widest diameter, overall height with the lid, filled weight, and any retail carton, and size multi-candle boxes from the full divider layout.
| Measurement | Include |
|---|---|
| Product or inner pack | Full dimensions, closures and intended orientation |
| Interior arrangement | Inserts, partitions, cushioning and presentation layers |
| Complete shipment | Packed weight and units per box |
| Final box | Inside fit and closed outside dimensions |
Confirm the finished fit on the approved dieline and a loaded sample where required. Structural sizing references for the mailer are on the Roll End Tuck Top sizing guide.
Check the Filled Vessel on a Packed Sample
Test the actual filled jar or tin with its final lid and any retail carton. Check support under the base, separation between vessels and clearance above the lid; agree the shipping assessment required for the product.
What to Check Before Bulk Production
Trial the mailer with filled candles and the planned packing method. Record the approved vessel, insert, board and closure on the signed-off sample.
| If the trial shows | Review before approval |
|---|---|
| Vessels touch each other | Revise separation and support around the actual filled vessels |
| Lid presses on the candle lid | Review loaded height, support thickness and closing clearance |
| Removal catches the jar | Review insert access with the final vessel |
The stated seven days covers standard production from approved proof once the specification is confirmed. Confirm dispatch and delivery timing for the destination separately.
